On Friday, November 18th, 2011, a field of over 100 golfers
gathered to support Quantum Leap's biggest fundraiser,
the 11th Annual Quantum Leap Farm Charity Golf Tournament, held once again at beautiful Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater. An elite group of Quantum Leap Farm supporters, many of them attending year after year, came to the course for a day of golf, camaraderie and generosity.
Tournament winners received their trophies at the awards dinner, but no one had to go home empty handed thanks to our entertaining live and silent auction filled with popular one-of-a-kind prizes. Donors purchased great items, like a house for a week in the Bahamas, a trip to Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, and a Seafood Fest for 10 in a private tent on the beach at the Sheraton on Sand Key.
Some amazing donors went above and beyond: a golfer purchased the Mercedes Benz for a weekend and promptly gave it to our guest of honor for the evening--a Marine that has been active in the therapeutic programs at Quantum Leap. Long-time supporters gave additional donations after the inspiring speech of Quantum Leap Farm Board Member, Major General Mark Hashem, (Ret.). And one clever donor asked his company to match his gift and when they did--his total donation to the Farm was doubled!
All of the work, fun and giving that goes along with the Golf Tournament is ultimately about supporting the therapeutic programs at Quantum Leap Farm. The funds raised will help provide physical and mental health therapies for wounded soldiers, children with cancer, adults coping with diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, teens with autism spectrum, and seniors recovering from stroke. In our palliative care program, we’ve even comforted veterans of World War II in our beautiful Florida setting, surrounded by our animals, therapists, and volunteers.
