EQUINE ASSISTED SELF EXPLORATION
THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING
CARRIAGE DRIVING LESSONS, KINESTHETIC THERAPY

Quantum Leap Farm is a therapeutic equestrian program serving military servicemen and women, veterans and their families. Our goal is to help ease soldiers and their families through transitions: within the service, back to civilian and family life, and rehabilitating from war related injuries.

Recently we were awarded a generous grant from the BRAIVE Fund. Funds from this grant are earmarked to pay for OIF/OEF military servicemen and women, veterans and their family members, to participate in any of the programs we offer here at Quantum Leap Farm. This funding is available to us through September 2010. Services include therapeutic horseback riding, carriage driving, and any of our At EASE (Equine Assisted Self Exploration) classes for groups, families or individuals. Under the BRAIVE Grant, participation in any of our programs is free for military personnel who have served in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom--active or inactive, veterans and their family members, and, you may refer yourself.

INFORMATION ON OUR PROGRAMS:

At EASE is best described by what it is not. It is not riding, nor is it horsemanship. It is a pathway to self discovery utilizing equine assistance in union with a trained counselor and horse specialist implementing specifically designed activities that create an atmosphere for learning coping strategies, relationship building, repair, and team building. At EASE Director Carla Staats invites you to find out more.
Get ready to:
1. Have fun while learning about yourself, your relationships with others and the world around you
2. Learn to break down defensive barriers
3. Improve bonds with others by creating equine bonds
4. Strengthen your personal listening habits
5. Attain immediate, honest and observable feedback with cause and effect situations
6. Become empowered to expand your personal comfort zones

Groups for individuals sharing a particular transition in common are available at Quantum Leap Farm on Mondays and Tuesdays at the following times: 10:00-Noon; 1:00-3:00; 5:00-7:30

Ongoing groups:
1. OEF/OIF service men and women
2. Active military-transitions within service
3. Inactive military or veterans-transition to civilian life
4. OEF/OIF spouses and family members
5. Morale and team building
6. Personal development

Therapeutic Horseback Riding:

Therapeutic riding is an excellent form of exercise therapy in addition to being a fun, safe, challenging and social activity. Therapeutic riding sessions are conducted according to each rider's needs, abilities, and rate of progress. Therapeutic riding facilitates improvement in muscular strength, coordination, balance, stamina, self-confidence, and social interaction.

Carriage Driving:

Carriage driving sessions are provided for participants whose impairments my preclude riding safely, or for participants who are interested in learning a new equestrian skill. Carriage driving facilitates improvements in upper body strength and coordination, postural control, short-term memory and communication skills.

We invite you to visit us here at the Farm. If you would like additional information you may pick up brochures at Airmen and Family Service Center at MacDill Air Force Base, or contact us:
