Quantum Leap Farm Carriage Driving

Sessions are facilitated by our certified therapeutic instructors and are offered for participants with physical impairments that preclude their sitting astride a horse safely. Goals are developed by participants and instructors and include improvements in postural control, eye/hand coordination, fine motor skills, short-term memory skills, and psychosocial skills. Clients who are able, may sit next to the driver and learn to cue the horse with the reins, the driving whip and voice commands. Clients in wheelchairs are able to stay in their chair and be rolled up a ramp into our specially designed wheelchair accessible horse cart. Once their chair is secured they can enjoy a social and stimulating ride around QLF’s roads and pastures, or specially prepared obstacle courses. Participants are self-referred or may be referred by a medical professional.
Quantum Leap Farm Kinesthetic Therapy
Sessions are facilitated by our Physical Therapist or our certified therapeutic instructors and are conducted in the barn or barnyard areas. Sessions are conducted on the ground and may involve horsemanship, sensory integration work, or therapeutic exercise and psychosocial goals. Kinesthetic sessions are provided for participants with new or unstable injuries, some of whom will progress to riding or carriage driving pending physician approval. Participants are self-referred or may be referred by a medical professional.
