We help people of all ages and abilities grow strong, achieve goals, and overcome challenges by engaging them with horses.
Purpose
Quantum Leap Farm is a 501 (c) (3) charity located in Odessa, Florida and was founded in 2000 to serve civilian adults and veterans with mental and physical disabilities. January 19, 2012 proudly marks the 12th Anniversary of our organization. Quantum Leap Farm participants range in age from 3 to 92 years. They are diagnosed with a variety of conditions including wounds of war: traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, and spinal cord injury, as well as neurodegenerative and vascular diseases: Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke; and developmental syndromes: muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy. We provide therapeutic and recreational horseback riding, carriage driving, equine assisted behavioral health services, and a variety of equine experiential learning programs. Additionally we offer opportunities for individuals, students, or organizations to conduct community service projects, accumulate community service hours, and host a variety of family and corporate functions.
Vision
Every horseman knows the relationship with a horse is special. But for those with mental or physical disabilities, or in the recovery process, this relationship can open the door to an entirely new realm of possibilities. Horse and human become partners in a therapeutic relationship, offering a multitude of opportunities to focus on and explore abilities rather than disabilities, and a sense of ease rather than disease. It is our vision to help our clients explore this relationship to its fullest potential.
Values/Goals
Our values and goals center around recognizing the fact that having an injury or a disability may change the way our clients experience life, but it doesn’t change who they are. Injury and/or disability does not necessarily prevent people from leading meaningful, purposeful and productive lives, though many times it may change what that means to them and their families. Using horses to help navigate this often complicated transitional period, we hope to help clients explore what it means to be meaningful, purposeful and productive in light of changes in their abilities and their lives.
